looking and seeing and seeing and feeling

julie wolffs' (1992) favourite thing to do, is looking. She expresses herself through different art disciplines and likes to encourage the viewer to wonder about what we see and how it affects our emotions and memories. natural light and its influence on the colour palette of a scenery inspires her.

julie’s landscapes evoke this question within us: have we been here before? do we remember these places and experience some kind of melancholic feeling? or are these places we’ve never been, but somehow do feel familiar to us? her sense of colour, composition and line are evident in these paintings, drawings and collages. in her abstract work julie’s intuition and curiosity come into play. some of these works are gentle, light and comforting; others are rhythmic, bold and lively.

great britain's nature has left a deep impression on julie, which is reflected in a lot of her art. she's been on countless holidays to england and wales, where she feels at ease and at home.

Julie lives in the south of the netherlands with her partner and their two cats. Besides making art, she likes gardening, walking in nature, reading and making music.
